In a surprising update just days before the release of the new NeoGoat banlist, Pyramid Turtle has been added to the Semi-Limited List, reducing its legal copies from 3 to 2. After publishing the banlist days ago many players noted that zombies were not hit, and zombie deck were winning many local tournaments recently.
Why Pyramid Turtle?
Reducing Pyramid Turtle to 2 copies forces Zombie pilots to play more thoughtfully and reduces the likelihood of early Turtle setups that give them overwhelming board presence before opponents can establish control.
Zombie decks have tech cards like Creature Swap that acts as pseudo-removal, they give the turtle and make aggresive plays that end the duels quick. Maybe Creature Swap is the real problem, but with this change only Zombies are nerfed.
By semi-limiting this card, these interactions are still playable — but no longer abusable. Zombies are not being nerfed into the ground. A limit would have been too harsh; semi-limiting this card is an experimental change. With the banlists we encourage creative deckbuilding — exactly what NeoGoat is all about.
