NeoGoat Online – Quick Online Tournament Report (Earth Deck Spotlight)

We ran a quick NeoGoat online tournament, and this time we followed three full rounds played by an Earth-attribute player who eventually finished in 2nd place. Even without taking the event, the deck delivered some very memorable moments and showed why Earth strategies remain dangerous and flexible in the format.

Below is a round-by-round recap, followed by the full decklist and an analysis of how the build works.

🥊 Round 1 – vs Grondal (Good Stuff) [Win]

The tournament opened against Grondal’s Good Stuff deck, a matchup where raw efficiency and clean trades usually decide the outcome. The Earth player applied early pressure with Giant Rat, Berserk Gorilla, and King Tiger Wanghu, forcing constant interaction.

However, luck also played a role in this round. At a key moment, Grondal missed the coin toss of Gatling Dragon. When the Earth player later gained control of the monster, he attempted the effect himself—and this time, the coin toss was successful, swinging the momentum heavily in his favor.

Between solid Earth beatdown fundamentals and that fortunate Gatling Dragon sequence, the Earth player managed to secure the win and start the tournament on the right foot.

🧩 Round 2 – vs Martinz (Exodia) [Win – Pure Luck]

This was easily the most dramatic match of the run.

Against Martinz’s Exodia deck, the games went long, and in the third duel the Earth player was on the brink of defeat. Martinz had Backup Soldier, he could recover three missing Exodia pieces, but he would have one missing, then in the next turn he drew the last one, then he activated the Backup Soldier.

Then came the turning point.

Off the top, the Earth player drew Giant Orc just one turn before Martinz would get the last part, just enough to meet the ATK requirement to activate Deck Devastation Virus from the side deck that he had set since the beginning of the match. The timing was perfect—and honestly, it was pure luck. The virus stripped the Exodia deck of its key low-ATK monsters, completely collapsing the win condition and swinging the match.

Sometimes NeoGoat reminds us that skill sets the stage—but luck can still steal the show.

☯️ Round 3 – vs Chaos [Loss]

The final match was against Chaos, a notoriously tough pairing for Earth-based aggression. Chaos managed its resources better, answered the early pressure, and eventually took control of the duel.

Even in defeat, the Earth deck showed resilience, forcing meaningful interactions and making the Chaos player work for the win. A strong showing overall, and a well-earned 2nd place finish.

Deck Analysis

This Earth deck is a midrange pressure build that thrives on consistency and combat dominance:

  • Giant Rat + Nimble Momonga create a strong defensive backbone while thinning the deck and setting up momentum.

  • Berserk Gorilla, Gigantes, and King Tiger Wanghu punish weak boards and greedy summons.

  • Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest adds explosive comeback potential, especially when opponents trade into your Earth monsters.

  • The side deck is where the deck truly shines in specific matchups:

    • Deck Devastation Virus, Giant Orc and Zombyra the Dark give access to higher ATK thresholds when needed and eliminate low attack monsters.

    • Pulling the Rug helps against effect-reliant Normal Summons like Monarchs.

This run perfectly showcased what Earth decks do best in NeoGoat: apply pressure, force interaction, and sometimes win off a single perfectly timed topdeck.

A strong performance, a lucky moment to remember, and another reminder that NeoGoat games are never over until the last card is drawn.
