Last Tournament Deck Showcase: Baboon Burn, Horned Gadgets and Earth Return

Today’s NeoGoat spotlight covers two standout decks that appeared in recent tournament play: Baboon Burn, an aggressive burn strategy using clever Beast synergies and a Gadget Control deck running creative tech cards to win long resource battles.

Baboon Burn

This deck is the Panda burn deck from regular Goat format but with a twist since in NeoGoat the Limit Area B and Gravity Bind are limited cards so this deck uses a Green Baboon.

In Yu-Gi-Oh! from 2006-2007 , there was actually a burn deck also named Baboon Burn, but back then Green Baboon’s effect could also trigger when a Beast was destroyed by battle. Today in NeoGoat, the card works differently: it only triggers when a Beast is destroyed by a card effect outside the Damage Step.

Baboon Burn

Main Deck:

1x Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest
1x Breaker the Magical Warrior
3x Giant Rat
1x Exiled Force
3x Des Koala
3x Gyaku-Gire Panda
1x Injection Fairy Lily
1x Morphing Jar

1x Heavy Storm
1x Giant Trunade
1x Pot of Greed
1x Scapegoat
1x Swords of Revealing Light
1x Book of Moon
1x Level Limit - Area B

2x Destruction Ring
3x Just Desserts
3x Secret Barrel
3x Ojama Trio
1x Ceasefire
1x Magic Cylinder
1x Ring of Destruction
3x Nightmare Wheel
1x Gravity Bind
1x Solemn Judgment

Side Deck:
1x Des Wombat
1x Tribe-Infecting Virus
2x Cipher Soldier
1x Mind Control
2x Nobleman of Crossout
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Book of Moon
1x Mirror Force
2x Sakuretsu Armor
1x Solemn Judgment
2x Barrel Behind the Door

One of the deck’s signature tricks is using Destruction Ring to intentionally destroy one of its own Beast monsters. Doing so fulfills Baboon’s condition, letting the player drop Green Baboon straight onto the field. (It doesn't miis the timing because damage and destruction are considered at the same time) and doing extra 1000 damage can help the burn strategy. You can chain it to destroy a card that the opponent was destroying anyway.

The side deck includes Barrel Behind the Door, remember that if you chain it to the opponent's Ring of Destruction you inflict double damage. It would be funny to win by chaining it to your Destruction Ring to inflict 2000 effect damage, not the best combo.

The classic burn combo remains a core element:

  • Ojama Trio fills the opponent’s monster zones

  • Just Desserts hits harder due to the tokens

  • Secret Barrel scales with both tokens and hand size

  • Gyaku-Gire Panda gets big and attack tokens inflicting piercing damage.

This forces opponents into terrible decision trees: clear tokens and face attacks, or keep tokens and get punished for it.

A burn deck with Beast synergy, capable of switching from lockdown into explosive damage or even switching into beatdown.

Horned Gadgets

The second deck is a Gadget-based control strategy that uses the constant +1s from the Gadget chain to grind opponents down. What made this version stand out were its two unusual tech choices: Horn of the Unicorn and Horn of Heaven, which gave it unorthodox combat power and summon control.

Horned Gadgets

Main Deck:

1x Mobius the Frost Monarch
1x Blowback Dragon
1x Tribe-Infecting Virus
1x Breaker the Magical Warrior
1x D.D. Warrior Lady
1x Giant Rat
3x Green Gadget
3x Red Gadget
2x Gravekeeper's Spy
3x Yellow Gadget

1x Heavy Storm
2x Shield Crush
1x Pot of Greed
3x Smashing Ground
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
2x Book of Moon
1x My Body as a Shield
1x Snatch Steal
2x Horn of the Unicorn

2x Trap Hole
1x Mirror Force
1x Torrential Tribute
2x Sakuretsu Armor
1x Ring of Destruction
2x Horn of Heaven

Side Deck:
1x Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch
1x Granmarg the Rock Monarch
1x Zaborg the Thunder Monarch
1x Swords of Revealing Light
3x Shrink
1x Premature Burial
2x Phoenix Wing Wind Blast
2x Compulsory Evacuation Device
2x Rivalry of Warlords
1x Call of the Haunted

Green → Red → Yellow loops keep the hand stocked at all times, allowing the deck to trade removal for opposing monsters without ever falling behind.

Adding Horn of the Unicorn gives Gadgets the extra ATK they need to push through mid-range monsters that would normally wall them. And because Horn returns to the top of your deck when it’s destroyed, you can safely equip it to the Gadget you just searched, forcing the opponent to commit removal without losing long-term value.

It’s a rare tech but surprisingly effective.

Also, Gadgets can afford to tribute themselves for Horn of Heaven, since they replace themselves on summon. This allows the deck to:

  • Stop tribute monsters

  • Maintain control without losing card advantage

Mobius, Blowback Dragon, and other tribute options give the deck ways to convert a stable board into power plays and this list included two Gravekeeper's Spy for tribute fooder and defense.

Even with several Machines, the list isn’t built for all-in pushes. Limiter Removal is too situational for a deck that wins through steady trades and consistent advantage, so it was left out.

Earth Return

Earth Return

Main Deck:

2x Bazoo the Soul-Eater
1x Breaker the Magical Warrior
1x D.D. Assailant
2x D.D. Warrior
1x D.D. Warrior Lady
1x Elemental HERO Wildheart
1x Exiled Force
3x Giant Rat
1x Gigantes
2x Goblin Attack Force
1x Injection Fairy Lily
1x Mystic Swordsman LV2
1x The Rock Spirit
1x Tribe-Infecting Virus

1x Book of Moon
1x Heavy Storm
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
2x Nobleman of Crossout
1x Pot of Greed
1x Reinforcement of the Army
2x Smashing Ground
1x Snatch Steal
1x United We Stand

2x Bottomless Trap Hole
2x Dust Tornado
1x Mirror Force
2x Return from the Different Dimension
1x Ring of Destruction
1x Sakuretsu Armor
1x Torrential Tribute

Side Deck:
2x Berserk Gorilla
1x Chiron the Mage
1x Cipher Soldier
1x Enraged Battle Ox
1x Goblin Attack Force
2x Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer
1x Legendary Jujitsu Master
2x Mobius the Frost Monarch
1x Book of Moon
1x Nobleman of Crossout
1x Dust Tornado
1x Sakuretsu Armor

This build is a hybrid between midrange board control and explosive follow-up plays.
Your early game revolves around Giant Rat, Warriors, and small Earth attackers that trade efficiently and maintain tempo. Once enough monsters hit the graveyard, Bazoo becomes a threat—and Return from the Different Dimension becomes a win button.

The deck can win through:

  • consistent board trades,

  • constant pressure via Rat swarming,

  • quick damage with Goblin Attack Force + United We Stand,

  • and Return OTK turns.

It’s a deck that shines in duelists’ hands who like adapting on the fly.

Deck construction always reflects personal tech preferences, and today’s lists clearly illustrate that.

NeoGoat Tournament Report — November 27th, 2025

This NeoGoat tournament featured 15 players and a wide variety of strategies, but one storyline stood above the rest: an Earth deck that reached Table 1 in Round 1 and never moved, defeating four completely different opponents across the entire event.

Below is the full round-by-round recap.

Round 1: Earth 🏆 vs Zombie

The Earth player started his climb by facing an aggressive Zombie deck using Call of the Mummy to swarm the field early. Although the Zombie player managed to apply pressure fast, the undead monsters couldn’t break through Earth’s bulk. Once stabilized, the Earth player controlled the tempo and secured the opening win.

Round 2: Earth 🏆 vs Burn Beast

Next came a dangerous Burn deck full of damage traps, Des Koala, Secret Barrel, Nightmare Wheel, and lockdown tools like Level Limit – Area B. The Earth player spent several turns navigating board restrictions.

Round 3: Earth 🏆 vs Gravekeepers

In Round 3, the Earth deck faced a defensive Gravekeeper strategy centered around Spy, recursion, and classic control traps. He also uses Gilasaurus and monarchs, since Necrovalley avoid the negative effect of Gilasaurus. The Earth deck found key removal at the right moments and Gravekeepers began to run out of resources.

Round 4: Earth 🏆 vs Horned Gadgets

The final round featured an inventive Gadget deck running two unusual but effective tech cards:

  • Horn of the Unicorn to pump Gadgets beyond expected combat stats

  • Horn of Heaven to negate important summons at crucial times

This created a very grindy match where both players traded removal and small advantages constantly. The Gadgets’ natural card advantage engine kept things close, and the Horn tech caught the Earth player off guard more than once.

However, in the long game, the Earth deck’s larger monsters and efficient spot removal pushed through the Gadget wall, eventually breaking open the duel and securing the win.

Unfortunately, in the video of the last round, the Earth player placed his cards very close to himself, which makes his set Spell/Trap cards difficult to see on camera. The duel is still understandable, but the visibility issue is noticeable.

Earth completes a perfect 4-0 run and finishes the 15-player event undefeated at Table 1.

This 15-player NeoGoat event showed how far solid fundamentals and reliable monster pressure can go.

The Earth deck navigated four completely different matchups—Zombies → Burn → Gravekeeper’s → Gadgets—and defeated each one with consistent, disciplined play.

GustavoChapa, also using Dragons, secured the victory against Gaona’s Monarch build after three very tight games. Gaona didn't considered inmunity of Horus to spells and destroying a Premature Burial was a wasteful play that cost the game.

Round 3 (Final)

Table 1 — Grondal2 vs Totonatiuh

Winner: Grondal2

Grondal2 continues his undefeated run, piloting his trademark Good Stuff deck with extreme consistency. Totonatiuh opened strong in several sequences, but Grondal2’s resource management and removal toolkit gave him the edge throughout the match.

Replays:

Table 2 — Ventus vs GustavoChapa

Winner: GustavoChapa

A full Dragon mirror match, and easily one of the wildest matches of the round.

Ventus exploded in Duel 1 with two Five-Headed Dragons, but despite the overwhelming board, GustavoChapa managed to outgrind and take the first game.
Ventus struck back in Duel 2 with strong pressure from Horus monsters.
The deciding Duel 3 turned when Heavy Storm wiped out four of Ventus’s backrow, completely reversing the tempo and giving GustavoChapa the win.

Replays:

Table 3 — Lorska vs CharlyMax

Winner: Lorska

Lorska secured a solid win with clean play and strong tempo control, capitalizing on every opening CharlyMax left on the board. A disciplined match from both players, but Lorska maintained the initiative all the way.

Replays:

Table 4 — KrlosPollo vs Gaona

Winner: KrlosPollo

KrlosPollo came in swinging with an unexpected 4-Starred Ladybug of Doom, which wiped Gaona’s monsters multiple times and kept the field clear long enough to take control of the match. A very fun and very old-school win that felt straight out of early GX-era play.

Deck Concept

The core of the deck revolves around Elemental HERO Wildheart and Tenkabito Shien, both immune to traps while on the field. Together they form a frontline that is surprisingly difficult to break, even against opponents with heavy backrow.

A small engine of Volcanic Shell + Bonfire keeps card flow steady, allowing you to play discard traps like Phoenix Wing Wind Blast without losing advantage.

Gravity Bind locks down high-Level attackers, while your “Anti-Trap” beaters continue swinging freely under its protection.

Easy to pilot, resistant to disruption, and ready for tournament play straight out of the box.

A loaner deck based on one of the most iconic and enduring archetypes in the game. This version perfectly captures the classic Gravekeeper identity: a strategy that mixes impenetrable defense with decisive offensive bursts, all under the absolute authority of Necrovalley.

This wasn’t just a thematic pick—this was the deck that defined the NeoGoat meta at the beginning of 2025, shaping the early months of the format with its control-oriented playstyle and difficult-to-break board states.

Defensive Core

The deck begins by establishing a solid wall:

  • Gravekeeper’s Spy and Gravekeeper’s Guard block early aggression while generating card advantage.

  • Necrovalley, the archetype’s signature field spell, shuts down many opponent lines while boosting your monsters.

  • Traps like Solemn Judgment, Spell Shield Type-8, and Mirror Force ensure that any attempt to break through your setup is swiftly punished.

Offensive Push

Once the pace of the duel is under control, the deck smoothly shifts gears:

  • Gravekeeper’s Assailant manipulates battle positions to enable safe attacks.

  • Tribute monsters like Mobius the Frost Monarch and Zaborg the Thunder Monarch convert Spy’s bodies into powerful, board-breaking threats.

  • Tsukuyomi recycles flip effects to repeatedly open pathways.

  • Rite of Spirit brings back your Gravekeepers immediately—even under Necrovalley—allowing sudden swings and follow-up pressure.

This fluid transition between defense and offense is what has made Gravekeeper such a timeless archetype. The deck controls the duel from multiple angles and remains one of the most reliable, cleanly-structured strategies in NeoGoat.

2x Raigeki Break
1x Ring of Destruction
1x Time Seal
1x Torrential Tribute

A loaner deck perfect for players who enjoy slowing the opponent down, controlling the pace of the duel, and gaining advantage while the rival watches turns pass without being able to draw a card.

This build focuses on tempo manipulation, bounce effects, and incremental pressure—slowly tightening the game until the opponent runs out of options.

Abyss Soldier is the primary engine of the deck:
it returns opponent cards to the hand, breaks their board structure, and creates repeated tempo swings that few decks can keep up with.

Whether it’s bouncing a set monster, resetting a Tribute summon, or creating direct attack openings, Abyss Soldier constantly puts the opponent on the back foot.

Fenrir is the true defining element of the strategy:

  • When it destroys a monster by battle, the opponent skips their next Draw Phase.

  • Even a temporary lock can be devastating—two or three skipped draws often decide the game outright.

Maintaining Fenrir on the field while clearing small monsters creates a soft lock that shuts down the opponent’s ability to recover.

To keep the engine running, the deck uses:

  • Mother Grizzly to fetch key monsters

  • Yomi Ship to punish attacks

  • Salvage to recycle WATER monsters and maintain card flow

Umiiruka powers up all your WATER monsters, turning small threats into meaningful attackers and enabling more Fenrir triggers.

The control suite—Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, Solemn Judgment, Time Seal, and classic staples—reinforces the core idea of reducing the opponent’s effective turns. Between bounced cards, skipped draws, and seal effects, this deck quietly steals the duel one turn at a time.

1x Giant Trunade
2x Smashing Ground
2x Dust Tornado
2x Rivalry of Warlords
2x Skill Drain
2x Solemn Judgment

This loaner deck takes the spirit of the classic Elemental HERO cards and adapts it to the NeoGoat environment with a playstyle very similar to the HERO builds seen in Edison Format. It’s the perfect choice for duelists who love Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and enjoy playing with the original HERO lineup.

Elemental HERO Neos serves as your primary beater, and thanks to the deck’s support package, getting him onto the field is surprisingly easy.
The deck is built so you can summon high-level HERO monsters consistently without falling behind on tempo.

  • Necroshade
Each copy lets you Normal Summon a Level 5 or higher HERO for free, granting huge value from the graveyard and enabling sudden power plays.

  • Elemental HERO Prisma
Thins the deck, sets up graveyard effects, and accelerates your offensive plan by sending the right HERO names exactly when you need them.

  • Raigeki Break
Provides flexible removal while allowing you to pitch useful cards to the graveyard, especially Necroshade.

  • Hero Blast
One of the deck’s strongest tools: it recycles Sparkman or Neos and destroys an opponent’s monster on resolution. A source of recurring advantage that keeps your attackers coming back.

Rivalry of Warlords and Skill Drain add a powerful lockdown angle. Against many strategies, these two cards alone can shut down entire gameplans, forcing the opponent to play at a fraction of their deck’s potential while your HERO lineup continues attacking unaffected.
