Reversal Quiz Forbidden in NeoGoat

In the last banlis Reversal Quiz got forbidden even though nobody had played that deck in tournaments, until yesterday when some player brought this deck. It had a nice result but the opponents that had to play against it confirmed that is was pretty boring and unfair that they can´'t respond going first. So, we better started by prohibiting this card and will continue to ban o limit cards that make these decks where only one player plays.

Here is an example of what playing Reversal Quiz is like, and playing in a tournament is even worse because is slower, putting all the counters, putting deck upside down (which has the inconvinience to accidentally see cards beyond the top of the deck), etc.

🚨Emergency Banlist! 🚨

The usual in NeoGoat format is that the banlist and card pool is changed every two months, but this time we had to bring the changes earlier than planned. Here we present the changes that will apply since August 1st, 2025:

Why the changes earlier? Because we want to make the NeoGoat format always enjoable for everyone.

  • Card of Safe Return (from semilimited)
    • The problem with this card is that it's a continuous effect that you can activate many times in the same turn and snowballing your opponent, everybody were moving to zombie decks in the format reducing variety. Also the presence of cards like Magical Exemplar was a very powerful combo.
  • Reverzal Quiz (from unlimited)
    • NeoGoat special cardpool make this deck more powerful, we don't want decks that can cause FTK without the opponent doing nothing during the duels, also the combo is time consuming and people must be conscious of which effects were already used, how many counters every card has, all this can make cheating easy for the player since the opponent will get bored. Soon we'll make an entry about this deck.
Limited:
  • Hunter Owl (Returning card)
    • Not many cards can be used to boost Wind-themed decks so this is a good option but at two copies can cause a lock and also gets very big in attack quickly.
  • Magician of Faith (from semilimited)
    • It's a light attribute monster that chaos decks benefits most, also NeoGoat has many powerful spell cards as Heavy Storm, Pot of Greed, Snatch Steal, Premature Burial, those cards can be abused with Tsukuyomi recycling them.
  • Spirit Reaper (from semilimited)
    • Some decks have trouble destroying monsters that can't be destroyed by battle, also we wanted to nerf the Goblin Zombie engine that many decks started including.
Semilimited:
  • Necrovalley (from unlimited)
    • Gravekeeper's was a powerful deck months ago, in the July's banlist we wanted to reduce it's power attacking the Royal Tribute which can make you lose your entire hand or with the opponent knowing which cards you have, and also  Gravekeeper's Spy which is used in many decks outside Gravekeepers, but after these changes this deck dissapeared completely. This time we will focus on attacking the Necrovalley that is the card that blocks the Graveyard instead of the Spy that bring another monster.
  • Goblin Zombie (from unlimited)
    • This is a an OCG card that is included in the core cardpool of NeoGoat format. The problem is that it started to see gameplay as an engine in not zombie-related decks because it's ability to bring a copy of itself or the Spirit Reaper (another very used card). It started appearing everywhere and when people destroy it the opponent just bring another, like an upgraded version of the gadgets.
  • Ultimate Offering (from unlimited)
    • This card started to appear in decklists of Monarch decks and Gadgets and the activation in the opponent's battle phase can be annoying.
  • Amazoness Village (from limited)
    • After the limitation the deck was unplayable.
  • Mobius the Frost Monarch (from unlimited)
    • We started to include monarch cards in the banlist, and Mobius has been seen in the gameplay videos destroying many cards and overwhelming the opponent.
Unlimited:
  • Manticore of Darkness (from limited)
    • This card was limited from the very beggining of the format because of the presence of triple Foolish Burial that makes the infinite draw loop easy to achieve. Without Card of Safe Return this card doesn't have the infinite draw loop so no need to be limited.
  • Gravekeeper’s Spy (from semilimited)
    • We are exchanging a Necrovalley for a Spy in Gravekeeper's deck.
Cards Added:
  • Flame Tiger
    • Could make fire decks more playable.
  • Rallis the Star Bird
    • Could make wind decks more playable.
  • Oil
    • Fire support card, we want to give it a try.
  • Dark Dragon Ritual
    • Ritual card to summon Paladin of Dark Dragon, the second effect this ritual spell has can't be used since there are not objectives in the cardpool.

Cards removed:
  • Amazoness Trainee
    • Card meant to make Amazoness decks more playable but instead it ended in Warrior or other generic decks.
  • Amazoness Fighting Spirit
    • Unnecesary card with the field spell at two.

Exploring a Dark Magician Deck in NeoGoat Format

Welcome to our exploration of the Dark Magician deck in the Neo-Goat format! This blog will dive deep into how you can leverage the OCG cards that are not permitted in the traditional Goat format but are allowed in NeoGoat, creating an enhanced version of the Dark Magician deck.

NeoGoat format breathes new life into the classic Goat format by allowing select OCG cards, adding variety and strategic depth. This format invites players to experiment with powerful combinations, making it an exciting environment for both traditionalists and newcomers.

Dark Magician Deck Idea

In the decklist we present today we are trying to include many of the thematic cards that support Dark Magician:

  •  Dark Magic Curtain : This card allows you to summon a Dark Magician directly from your deck, sacrificing some of your life points for immediate board presence.
  •  Dark Renewal : With this card, you can suumon your Dark Magician or even Dark Magician of Chaos even if it has been sent to the graveyard, allowing you to remove an opponent monster also.
  •  Magical Dimension : This spell not only lets you tribute a spellcaster to summon another but also allows you to destroy an opponent's monster, providing both removal and board advantage. Use it to disrupt an opponent's play.
  • Magician’s Circle : This card can activate when a spellcaster monster is attacking, allowing both players to summon a spellcaster from their decks. This can bring Dark Magician Girl or Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer depending on the situation.

The Dark Magician deck in NeoGoat format opens a wealth of possibilities, enhanced by the inclusion of OCG cards and synergistic combos. By leveraging cards like Dark Magic Curtain, Dark Renewal, Magical Dimension, you can create an exciting and formidable strategy.

Tournament Report July 2nd Week - Another win for Chaos

Today we have more video reports, we haven't fixed the camera holding problem, sorry.

Match 1

Match 2

Match 3

While the NeoGoat banlist attempts to curtail the Chaos dominance found in regular Goat by hitting power cards like Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning, Magician of Faith, or Graceful Charity, the core of Chaos Goat remains playable:
Chaos Sorcerer is still legal and efficient at two copies
The Tsukuyomi + Flip + Chaos engine still generates insane value

Will we have more Chaos cards in the next banlist?

NeoGoat Deck Idea: Malice in the Deep

Following the recent victory of WATER decks in the Special Grand Tournament, today we’re diving deeper into the WATER theme—this time blending it with creative strategies, including the newly semi-limited Card of Safe Return.

Following the recent victory of WATER decks in the Special Grand Tournament, today we’re diving deeper into the WATER theme—this time blending it with creative strategies, including the newly semi-limited Card of Safe Return.

At its heart, the deck revolves around looping monsters from the Graveyard while generating card advantage and battlefield presence. Here are your key engines:

Card of Safe Return (Continuous Spell): When a monster(s) is Special Summoned from your GY (except during the Damage Step): You can draw 1 card.

Every time you revive a monster, you draw a card. Combine with:

Malice Doll of Demise – Comes back every turn if it was sent to the GY by a Ectoplasmer effect inflicting burn damage and also gettin rid of opponent monsters.

Revival Jam – Pays 1000 LP to revive itself during your next Standby Phase.

Call of the Haunted / Premature Burial – Additional triggers for CSF, and can be recycled with Abyss Soldier that is an Unlimited card right now.

If there’s one Attribute that defines NeoGoat in mid-2025, it’s WATER.

Deck Idea: Fire Beast Deck
