Special Tournament Report: Shining Tempest πŸŒŠπŸ’‘

The special tournament between water and light duelists was held yesterday,  the rules for this event were posted here some days ago, also,  the water decks sweep light in this showdown.

The battlefield was set: 6 duelists piloting Water-based decks with new techs and relentless pressure, up against 14 Light-attribute decks focused on chaos and also burn strategies. The result? the top 4 were all water.

This event featured a twist in NeoGoat rules: Deck “Attributes” were granted thematic abilities, adding extra flavor and mechanical identity to the matchups.Water duelists could change the battle position of one monster on the field by paying Life Points, allowing aggressive tempo shifts and surprise defense breaks.

🧊 Fenrir: The Silent Killer

A key weapon in the Water arsenal was Fenrir, a Level 4 monster with a chilling effect:

“If this card destroys a monster by battle: Your opponent skips their next Draw Phase.”

This is the deck that the Winner used. The best water deck and he won a Rage of the Abyss box.

This was the best light deck. Fifth place at the tournament. He won an Alliance Insight Box.

The decklists here doesn't include the extra deck or side deck that the players used, the monster below in the side was the Extra Monster, a monster with 1500 or less attack of the chosen attribute. Players were able to move that monster to their field during their Main Phase.

Another perk for duelist was that every round that they won they earned a Monster Mayhem booster pack from the box that corresponds to their attribute.

Some duelists got cool cards from OTS Boosters packs that were given for registering in the event.

Some other decklists (Remember this is a physical tournament so players use what they have at hand):

Fusions

Spellcasters

Zombie

Water Return

The Creator

There are some videos of matches during the event, unfortunately we don't have yet an easy way for recording them.

This event’s result may signal the beginning of a Water Renaissance in NeoGoat.

Tournament Report June 24th 2025

The last tournament Omar Osorio won the tournament by using a typical Goat format deck that he adapted to NeoGoat in the last minute, this shows that even with the actual erratas and rulings of cards, chaos decks are still worth of playing.

Rogue Deck Idea: Mazera DeVille

"Mazera DeVille" is a powerful card with a significant hand discard effect, better than Delinquent Duo, but its summoning requirements and limited synergy with the archfiend monsters make it a somewhat challenging card to use effectively. It is a fun choice for players who enjoy building around specific combos and can handle the complexities of its summoning conditions. In this format we take advange of Summoner Monk, Archfiend General and Unexpected Dai. Unfortunately there is no card that allows you to search Mazera Deville efficiently.

If you manage to summon Mazera Deville on the first turn the best scenario would be to have a Solemn Judgment to limit the opponent's options even more. Also, you can set Terrorking Archfiend and Archfiend General to tribute for a Deck Devastation Virus.

Here we present a decklist that could be a good start to build a Mazera DeVille deck:

NeoGoat Special Tournament: Shining Tempest:

NeoGoat Special Tournament!

Shining Tempest:

"The Clash between Light and Water"

General Rules:

• At the start of the tournament, each player must choose whether to participate as a Light or Water Duelist.

• Decks must include at least 7 monsters of the selected attribute in the Main Deck and monsters of the opposite attribute cannot be used.

• Each player will build their Deck by choosing a monster of the selected attribute that has 1500 or less Attack. That monster will be placed in the Extra Deck. Once per Duel, during the player's Main Phase and excluding the first turn, they may choose to place that monster face-up on their field (not considered a Summon). When that monster leaves the field, it is banished face-down.

Examples:

• Once per Duel, a player may Normal Summon a Level 5 or higher monster of their selected attribute without Tributing.

There are specific Abilities for each group; activating an Ability is considered the activation of a Normal Trap and can be chained to them.

Special Abilities for Light Duelists πŸ’‘:

• Light Burst: Once per turn, when a Light monster you control is targeted by an effect of a non-Light or Water-attribute monster, you can target both monsters; destroy them.

• Divine Protection: Once per turn, you can banish a card from your hand; increase your Life Points by 800.

Special Abilities for Water Duelists πŸ’§:

• Controlled Shipwreck: Once per turn, when a Water monster you control is destroyed by battle by a non-Light or Water-attribute monster, you can banish the destroyed monster face-down instead of sending it to the Graveyard to draw a card from the Deck, then select a card in your hand and return it to the bottom of the Deck.

• Tactical Whirlpool: Once per turn during the Main Phase, you can pay 800 Life Points; change the battle position of a face-up monster on the field.

Tournament Report for the second week of June

Last week there were two NeoGoat local tournaments. In this post, we'll recap the standout moments, highlight some of the top competitors, and discuss the strategies that led to their successes.

 Week's Deck Profile: Monarch Deck

One of the two tournaments was won by a duelist new to the format. The Monarch deck he used performed excellently and surprised many players. Some of his duels can be seen in the duel videos.  The primary strategy of the Monarch deck is to establish board control through the efficient use of tribute summoned Monarchs while maintaining resource advantage through removal. The opponent has a hard time leaving monsters on the field since they could be tribute food for the opponent monarchs. Also, summoning Tsukuyomi on the opponent battle phase with Ultimate Offering was a powerful combo.

Monarch vs Warriors (Tuesday)

The next tournament the same player used his same deck but this time one of the duelists was prepared for his strategy, using Mask of Restrict and many other trap cards, he won second and third game. At the end of the match he claimed the Maze of the Master booster pack and he pulled a Collector Mulcharmy Purulia.

Monarch vs Flip Control

There were some other interesting matches.

Zombies vs Chaos Machines

Warriors vs Skill Drain Warrior
